Sketches in Thyme: summer love

My husband travels a great deal for work. He had a scheduled week home and he booked it off for vacation. I had the great (yes, great!) idea of keeping our sitter for three of those days and having him take one of our girls out each day and have a daddy-daughter day.  He, and they, were all for that. These are a few pictures of the day he had with the middle girl. They went for a long quad ride, did some fishing and had lunch at a nice little restaurant. They really enjoyed their time together!

I'm sharing this as my layout for Sketches in Thyme this week! Head over to the blog and play along for your chance to win the prize!

Let's Scrap Sketches: Snowlicious

Happy birthday, Canada! It's lovely outside today, not like the snowy day featured in my layout. We are having some friends over for a BBQ and swim later on today to celebrate our nation's birthday. Fireworks tonight will finish off another wonderful holiday!

Now on to my layout for Let's Scrap Sketches. I chose to use the left side of the sketch and make it into a quick and easy single page layout. I love that my kids love to spend time outdoors, the pictures are so much fun to scrap!

The Memory Nest: Pouty Girl

This is my last share with The Memory Nest design team but I will keep using their sketches to create, because they are so easy to use! Thanks again ladies for having me.

My oldest recently turned 10. Wow! Double digits! I took the picture below of her and her sisters and when I zoomed into her face I was immediately reminded of a picture taken shortly after her birth. My pouty girl still makes the same face, 10 years later!

She also approached her dad and I yesterday saying that most 10 year olds have a cell phone and could she have one. When she figures out a way to pay for it, she can ask again. She's pretty smart so I'm guessing she'll have a proposal presented soon.

Here's the sketch! Go play!!!

I'm going to go and create another week!!

Sketches in Thyme: Spider Queen

It's my day again over at Sketches in Thyme! I decided to scrap some pics of this year's hallowe'en night. This is the first year that the girls have made their own costumes (with help from mom and dad). My oldest was a spider queen and she had a spider web table clothe from the dollar store converted into a dress that I sewed little plastic spiders too. I crocheted her a spider web hat that I also sewed spiders to. My hubby did her make up and he also put a spider crawling into her mouth!

The spider crawling into her mouth. I'm going to have to do another page with this picture on it, for sure!

The Memory Nest, Guest Designer: Giggles

I'm happy to be sharing this layout with Leslie and the design team from The Memory Nest! I quite often play along with the sketch challenges offered there.

My girls got these hats for Easter from memere and pepere and immediately they started posing. This little one was most animated in showing off her hat, her smile and her baby blues. She had a lot of fun with the hat and the camera!

Sketches in Thyme: Getting Messy

It's my day over at Sketches in Thyme! I found these pictures of my oldest (deep in my stash) and thought it was time to use them. As I was finishing up, I remembered that my brother, who was visiting that day, got her to put her hand print on a piece of paper. He gave it to me and said, "you're a scrapbooker, maybe you can add this to her book." I'm so glad I remembered he had done that (even happier that I tucked it into her album to save for this day).

Kept it even more CAS than normal! Just one little embellishment that says it all.

Used my cameo, been a bit since I have. I really do love this machine!

Thanks to my brother, I have this wee hand print. I can't wait to show it to her to prove she used to be tiny.

Let's Scrap Sketches: Always Follow Your Heart

This is my little mini. It's so hard to believe that she is 5.5 now. Crazy how fast time goes. She was and still is a pretty happy kid, always smiling and giggling. She still loves being in photos, she now asks me to take a picture!

Just a little close up of my girl's sweet face.

Using my favourite thing..pop dots!

Buttons, buttons and more buttons!

This is what I wish for all my girls. I want them to always follow their hearts!

I chose to use the left side of this week's sketch from Let's Scrap Sketches.

Let's Scrap Sketches: Happy Holidays

I love that Let's Scrap Sketches offers a double page sketch but doesn't expect you to create a double page layout. I ended up using the left side of the double to add this page to my oldest's album.

My little cluster, I am still trying to learn how to do this!!

Rub-ons, second time using them this year. I think I remember why I have so many, I love them!

Look, more rub-ons. Third time this year, prepare to see more soon!

This is what happens when I try to distress using scissors instead of my distress tool. Ah well. It works.

The sketch!

This is project #24 in my quest for 50 before I can shop for more goodies!

Sketches in Thyme: Happy

I'm pretty excited today! It's my first official reveal with Sketches in Thyme and I get to share a layout of my girl and her first love. She has been skating since she was 2 and she continues to improve her skills and her love for the sport keeps growing. She had the opportunity to attend her first competition in March and she was steel right up until she stepped on the ice, then I think the nerves set it. Even with that, she did a great job and she will only get better!

The story of her first competition. We are so proud of her. I don't have her guts - she is fearless.

I love these stickers from Heidi Swapp! They make me happy :)

Here is the sketch:

And here is the prize! Come out and play!

Let's Scrap: Splash

Let's Scrap has another great sketch this week! It's not often that I'm scrapping such recent photos, but I knew the sketch would look great with these photos and papers! I'm digging deep again, these are from the 2012 Pebbles Mermaid collection.

My girls experienced their first hotel stay earlier this year. They truly enjoyed the restaurant eating for every meal and they really, really loved having a pool down the hall. We arrived at the hotel around 9pm after a five hour drive and their first question was if they could go swimming. I figured it would do them good to get some activity in after the long ride, even though it was already an hour past bed time. That was the first of many swims over the next two days! We even got to see my bff and her two boys, for lunch and, of course - a swim!

My husband thought there should be some "water" on the layout - he said, "you know that shiny stuff?" So I added a few drops of glossy accents to the title.

Does anyone see anything wrong with the picture below? I wanted the chevrons to line up perfectly, so I didn't cut it yet. I do this sometimes, although I think those little pieces may cause me grief.

The reason we were staying at the hotel is a sad one and the story is in my hidden journal card, along with a photo of someone special.

Here is the sketch! Play along, it's a great one!

That HAIR!

My mini has the best hair. I'm sure she is going to ask to have it cut soon and that is going to break my heart (not to mention her daddy's too!). She and I went out for a little photo shoot before she turned 5 and she was dancing around and I got some great pics of her....and her hair!

A little story for her so she knows why she was out in some field being photographed!

I used my silhouette to cut this part of the title out of the main sheet and then backed it with a piece of cardstock to make it pop.

I used some mini letters that came with the paper line and popped it up. I added some bling for her on the butterfly.

I used the sketch from ScrapMuch? and I'm also linking up to Crash Your Stash as #18. (I don't think I'm going to make 50 projects before I buy something, but I'm still trying!)

Just also want to share my favourite picture taken that day, man I just love her to bits! It's already been scrapped too!
