Top 13 of 2013!

I cheated.  I couldn't get it down to just 10.  These are 13 of my favourite projects from 2013. Thank you for all of your comments this past year.  I really appreciate them.  I love that we can share our creativity online.  I love seeing what you you all share too!

Week 19 of Project Life: three label strips

I maybe cheated on the three label strips challenge this week from Stuck On U Sketches!  I used label stickers that came with the collection pack!

Check it out, though, week 19. That is so close to half way done 2013!

You have until Jan 12 to link up and play!

Lasting Memories #171: Here comes Santa

I can't believe we haven't been to see Santa yet this year.  We'd better hurry or we will miss out!

This week at Lasting Memories, we are focusing on Santa!

This is from my youngest's second Santa visit.  She did pretty well, although the tears started flowing shortly after this picture was taken.  How time flies, she just turned four this year.  She's not a baby any more.

I used the sketch from Stuck? for this layout.

Week 18 of Project Life: Tabbed Card

These last two weeks have just flown by.  The youngest is sick, first time we've ever dealt with croup, a few sleepless nights there.

This week at Stuck On U Sketches we are asking you to use a tabbed card on your project.  I hope you've checked out what the team created this challenge.  Spectacular!

How do you Project Life?

I showed up very late to the Project Life party.  I didn't start documenting 2013 until April, even though I started taking my 'photo of the day' on January 1st.  I have a specific folder on my Facebook that I post my photo to each day, with a little blurb about what we were doing.  Then when I am ready to actually create my spread, I just open that album and my journalling is already done!  I just have to copy it over.  It's so easy!!

I also find that having a silhouette machine is an amazing tool for me.  There are so many files that are just perfect for the pocket style documenting that I do.  I use it more for this that I do for traditional layouts.

My biggest problem now is that I am on week 18 of 2013 and 2014 is knocking on the door!  Do I finish 2013 first or do both years at the same time??

The one thing I am going to do for continuity sake is have the same style title on each double page spread that I do.  The silhouette store has lots of choices, so I just have to pick one!

I only managed to get the one side of the spread completed, but the tabbed card (or my version of it) is in the bottom right hand corner.

Songs of Christmas Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Songs of Christmas Blog Hop with Two Scrapbook Friends! You should have arrived here from Jayne's blog.

Our Blog Hop is all about the Songs of Christmas and the inspiration for my project comes from the song "In the Eyes of a Child" from Air Supply's Christmas album.

Each Christmas we put on some theme music and the girls decorate the Christmas tree. My husband always lifts them up to do the higher branches. They just love this time of the year!

I did a fair bit of fussy cutting on this layout because I wanted the tree to have some dimension, and really who doesn't love pop dots? The title is cut with my cameo, I love that machine too!

I hope you have a great time hopping and feel like getting scrappy! Christmas is fast approaching and you will have lots of new memories to preserve.

So remember, in order to be entered to win the special prize all you have to do is hop from Blog to Blog and leave a comment on each as you go. Then simply check back at the Two Scrapbook Friends blog on December 10th to see if you are the lucky winner!
Here are the featured blogs in our Blog Hop:

Your next blog will be: Jodi's!   Have fun hopping!

I used sketch #163 from Liz Chidester.

Lasting Memories #169: Red, White and Green!

You can tell it's getting close to Christmas!  The challenge blogs are all asking you to get Merry! and what better way to do that than to create a layout using red, white and green?  That is what Lasting Memories is asking you to do this week - get festive with red, white and green!

I used some black too, I hope that is not cheating!  This is my little Santa Baby, this kid adores wearing her Santa hat each and every year.  In fact, she is currently watching a Christmas show wearing a hat right now!

I used the latest sketch from Stuck on U Sketches to create this.

Stick it Down!

As if life isn't hectic enough around here, I decided a bit ago that I wanted to try my hand a coordinating a sketch only blog.  Soon after one of the challenge blogs I was a part of closed down and I had a wee bit of time on my hands.

Stick it Down was born.  An amazing response to the DT call showed me that there was interest and now the team has been announced.

I am so happy to say that I am going to be on one of the reveal teams as well!

Look for my reveals on the third Tuesday of each month and I hope you pop over and play along!

Week 17 of Project Life: Scalloped Circles

It's almost the end of the year, and I'm way back in April 2013!!

This week at Stuck on U Sketches the project life team was asked to use scalloped circles in some way.  I used a few circles and used my scallop circle punch and then a few scalloped circle stickers as well.

I just loved the little skunks in this collection!  It's been in my stash forever.

Lasting Memories: Snowflakes and snowballs

It's all about the snow this week at Lasting Memories! We had a fantastic winter last year. Tons and tons of snow. It was just awesome! The girls were outside playing and ice fishing all the time!

Being outside is what makes our girls truly HAPPY!

I let my cameo do a lot of the work on this layout.  I cut the title on the background page and then added the dark blue behind.  I used my sketch pen for the journaling.  Then finished it off with a little seam binding ribbon.

Lasting Memories: Christmas Traditions

It's getting close to Christmas! With young kids at home we are full of traditions and fun ways to make memories.

Each and every year since our first daughter was born in 2005, we have attempted a visit with Santa. I say attempted because it doesn't always work!

In this picture, the medium one decided that Santa was far too scary and chose to cozy up to one of the elves instead. My youngest was around two weeks old here. Santa was a little nervous to hold one so young, but he did a great job!

Week 16 of Project Life: Stuck on U Sketches

Another nemesis of mine!

For whatever reason, I have a huge collection of Stickles, maybe I'm distracted by the shiny?  So I put a few of them to use for the glitter challenge at Stuck on U Sketches.

Here is my 16th week of project life, complete with glitter.

I have to tell you a story about this spread.  I used my cameo for my  journaling.  The two journal cards on the right side, I was so proud that I got the writing in the proper spot!  However, when I was taking the picture, I realized that the bottom one wasn't April 23, but April 22.  Don't you hate when that happens???

Lasting Memories: Anything but snow!

It's an easy, challenge this week at Lasting Memories!  You have three full seasons worth of photos to choose from, heck even the non snowy pics from winter!

Since we spend so much time in the pool, my 'go to' photos are swimming related.

I used sketch #31 from the now closed 2 Broke Girls blog.

Week 15 of Project Life: Life in Details

This month at Life in Details we were given some fabulous printables to use on our projects. When I say fabulous, I am not lying! Michelle did a fantastic job creating these especially for us (and you!) to use!

Stop over at Michelle's blog and grab this file and get creating!  You have until November 30th to link up with us at Life in Details!

Here is my spread using these files:

Week 14 of Project Life: Stuck on U Sketches

Fourteen weeks in the album!  I am getting there!  I really enjoy reliving each week as I get each spread done.

The challenge this week at Stuck on U Sketches is to create a shaped tag.  I've never really used a tag before so I improvised.  I may use another one or two in the future!

Lasting Memories #164: Mirror Image

When I was looking through my sketches, I saw the perfect one for this mirror image challenge at Lasting Memories!

Another layout from our little day trip to Santa's Village this summer.  This time for the medium girl.

I used Creative Scrappers sketch #194 for this layout.  It was the perfect sketch for this challenge!

Pumpkin Patch

Last Friday my mini went on a field trip with her class. I was not able to go, but received this photo of my girl and one of her friends. I was at a weekend crop and just had to scrap it immediately! Fortunately, my friend was able to help me out since she carted her printer along for the ride. Thanks, Lynn!

Other than the photo, my favourite thing about this layout is the little creature banner.  They are so stinking cute!  Reason #456 I love my cameo!

I used sketch #28 from the now closed 2 Broke Girls challenge blog.

I am linking this up with Hiding in My Craft Room: Fall Colours.

My project life album has a title page! I was on a roll at the weekend retreat I attended and had 3 weeks completed and then bam! I didn't have the pictures for the next week!!! (a Selphy would have saved the day, and that was a not so subtle hint to my husband that I would REALLY love one under the tree this year!)

I moved on and decided that it was about time my album had a title page. My original intent was to have single photos of each family member, but that is really hard to do when you don't actually take the photo!

I found some left over Simple Stories paper and went with it. I think it is the first scrappy thing I have made without pictures. I kind of like it!

A new challenge blog!

I'm always looking for project life/sketch challenge blogs.  There is a new challenge site looking for their first design team and it's project life and sketches!  I know some of my friends only create double page layouts and that is one of the challenges on this site.

I can't wait to play along.

The blog is called Stick it Down.

Lasting Memories #163: Lots of journaling

Good morning blogland!  I am a little late in posting this week, as I was at a scrapbooking retreat all weekend.  Had a fantastic time, great food, great people, very little sleep!

I ended up completing 8 single page layouts and 3 weeks of my project life.  Now onto the challenge!

This week at Lasting Memories, we are asking you to show journaling on your layout.  You may wonder how my three little lines of journaling counts, but I struggle to even add that!

Thanks to my scrappy friend Joanne Burton for the sketch!

Stuck On U Sketches: Autumn Elements

When I first started out on this Project Life adventure, I was busy documenting my daily photos and creating my photo journal.

Then this challenge appeared at Stuck on U Sketches: Autumn Elements.  Wow!  I was stumped.  I was only on week 13 (please don't remind me that I am over 20 weeks behind!) and I was working on April 2-8. Hardly the time of year to be adding autumn elements to my spread.

So, once again,  I went outside of my comfort zone.  Instead of scrapping these pics of my daughter at a local conservation area, I went all project life!

Do you know something?  I love it!  It's very me, very CAS which I adore.

Cupcakes by Design #25: It's all about the shoes!

Meet my medium daughter.  That is how they refer to themselves, big - medium - small, not oldest - middle - youngest.  Anyway, meet my medium daughter, O.  She canNOT ever, nope never, just stand for a picture. She has to ham it up, and it makes for some interesting shots.  These ones of her in her Dorothy costume for Hallowe'en last year are just cute!

Here is my take on the sketch #25 from 2 Broke Girls!

I seem to have exhausted my supply of Hallowe'en paper, so I broke out some Echo Park - Hello Summer instead.  The colours are a pretty good match and give the fun feeling I was looking for!

Here is the sketch, come and play!

Week 12 of Project Life

It's my week to post over at Life in Details

This month we have a sketch to use on your spread.

Here is my completed spread using the sketch.

Lasting Memories #161: Use a black background

It's almost Hallowe'en, so we at Lasting Memories are asking you to use a black background on your layout this week.

To embrace the spirit of the season, I used pictures of my daughter and her 'Baterina' costume from last year.

I am linking up with the following sites I used for inspiration:

Paper Issues: Hallowe'en

Some surprising news!

I am currently on the creative team for Life in Details which is a challenge blog dedicated to Project Life and Smash Booking.  Today Michelle sent me a message asking if I would like to take over the blog as she didn't feel she could give it enough time.  I promised her to do my best and accepted.

I have given the blog a little face lift and am looking forward to this new challenge!

Our current challenge is to use this sketch and create a card for a PL spread or use it to inspire a new page in your Smash Book!

I really hope to see some new faces playing along in our 'just for fun' challenges.  We would love to have our creative teams' favourite project creator as a guest designer in future months.
