Another first!

I walked in the door after work today and got bombarded by the oldest child. She is beyond thrilled because today at the ripe old age of 6 years, 4 months and 27 days she finally has a loose tooth! Her question to me was, "do tooth fairies really exist?" I told her she would find out when she lost her tooth. I asked her if she knew what to do with her tooth when it fell out and she told me she puts it under her pillow and in the morning there will be money. Thanks to my father-in-law, she is expecting $25.

What is the going rate these days?

first couple of weeks..

My family and I have been living at with our in-laws in various numbers since July 1st.  We have been making the trip between here and our old house to pack up and get it fixed up and ready to sell.  The new owners take possession soon, but we don't get our new house here until November!

Dan has been working at his new job since the beginning of July and he is really enjoying it.  He is learning new ways to apply his knowledge every day.

I started my new job on August 22.  It is a little different in that I will be working in two different locations, one a retail pharmacy and the other packing medications for long term care.

Aubrielle started daycare on the 22nd as well and she is really doing well there.  They have her started on writing her letters already.  She has decided that she is done with diapers and is working on being toilet trained.

Oceane starts school this year.  It's very hard on me because I think three is too young!  She is not really into writing her name.  She does the "O" and that's pretty much it.  She says that is what we call her so that is what she will write.  Good luck to her teacher.  O meets her teacher on Wednesday and then goes all day on Thursday, Monday and Wednesday with half of her class.  She starts full time with the whole class that Friday.

Laura is starting grade one and is absolutely thrilled she will have her own desk.  She wants one for her new room too.  She is adamant that she wants to have her own room in the new house.  On Tuesday, I will be able to take Aubs to daycare and then stay with Laura until her bell rings.

The big girls will go to Aubie's daycare after school and I will pick them all up together which makes it very easy for me before and after school.  Same pick up and drop off for all!

Laura and O went to daycamp here during the summer.  They really liked it and they had a new theme day each and every day!

Laura on clown day.  She reminds me of Lynette from Big Comfy Couch!
Another cute little clown!

One night after work, I picked Aubie up from daycare and we came home to huge puddles...the girls minus Laura were in heaven!

Long time, no post!

Things have been very hectic around here lately.  I took advantage of a little time today to go and have my last scrap day with my Shelby girl before we move.

I purchased the product challenge from Two Scrapbook Friends and completed it while I was there.  It's based on a sketch from Allison Davis.

Another scrappy day.

I went to Two Scrapbook friends to scrap today with a new scrappy friend, Cathy.  We both got lots accomplished.  Thanks for a great day!

Two Scrapbook Friends - July product challenge

I love these product challenges because they force you outside your comfort zone.  Plus, you get this for 3.99 or so each month!  I used an old page maps sketch.

I know it's Father's Day.

However, this post is for the moms!  Do you still have a child(ren) using diapers, pullups or wipes?  Do you use Pampers products?

We have been using Pampers since Laura was born on May 31, 2005.  Two daughters later and that's a lot of diapers and wipes!!  Each bag comes with a little code that I have faithfully been entering at Pampers.ca.

With those points that have accumulated, I have gotten lots of free pictures developed from shutterfly.com.  I have cashed in my points to use there whenever I have had enough!  Today, I just spent enough points to allow me to get 400 4x6's delivered here.  I'm currently in the process of uploading and editing these pictures.  I have until Sept 30th though.  I will definitely have them finished and delivered in time for my scrapbook retreat in October!

I guess my point is, if you have to buy diapers and wipes, you may as well get something in return.  Something other than a dirty, stinky diaper!

Two Scrapbook Friends - June product challenge

I picked up the product challenge kit today and I'm pretty sure, I used one side on another great Allison Davis sketch.  I'm saying that because lately, they've all been her sketches - with one weekly ST sketch thrown in for fun.

The idea of the product challenge kit is to use a bit of everything that is in the bag.  I am loving the accordian flowers, they are pretty easy to make once you get the hang of it.  There were rub-ons, ribbons and brads in the kit as well.

My scrappy day today,

produced results!  Lots of them :)

You guessed it, another Allison Davis sketch!

Sketchy Thursdays 6.9 challenge

I got to spend today scrapping with a lovely group of ladies.  I got a few layouts done and got to play along with this sketch challenge for ST blog!  To make it even better, we did a pot luck.  Yummy!

I was so sure that I was going to flip this sketch, but it turns out I had pictures for it the way it was.  This is O in my mom's wedding dress.  We watch Say yes to the dress all the time and they wanted to go dress shopping.  I gave them the next best thing!

The dance recital!

I am very impressed with how the girls did!

Océane really had a great time and did pretty well, considering that she may have been on her own stage, at least in her mind.

Laura made everyone laugh, because she knew what had to be done, and when other girls weren't doing it, she stuck her ground and held firm.

Next year, Laura has chosen to sit with mom and dad and watch her sisters dance.  She wants to try martial arts and maybe some synchronized swimming!

under the wire!

With one minute to spare, I got my layout posted on the Sketchy Thursday blog!  This sketch was right up my scrapbook style alley.  So simple!

sketch support - card sketch #8

As soon as I saw Allison Davis' at sketch support new sketch, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it!

My sweet baby O, at about 5 months old.

Yes, it's a card sketch...but it's just a starting point!

Two Scrapbook Friends forum challenge - May sketch

This sketch challenge was set by Dee.  She picked a great one by Becky Fleck at Pagemaps.  I used this picture of Laura and I from when she was just 5 days old.  I figured it was fitting as she will be six on Tues. *sob*

My take.
The sketch.

Two Scrapbook Friends forum challenge!

I really liked the April sketch challenge, it just took me awhile to finally get to it!

My take.  The photo is not the best, due to taking it with the iPad.  Have to find my cord for the camera!

Laura's 6th birthday party!

Was so busy that I didn't even have time to take pictures!  I'm hoping that the few that Shelby was able to take she will share with me!

We had 11 kids, including Océane and Laura at Two Scrapbook Friends in Waterloo.  They all made these adorable tabbed journals.  They cut out the papers to cover the board pages and then got to decorate the pages with buttons, stickers and ribbons.  Then they added their pictures and finally it was time to show them off!  They all did a great job!  Well, maybe with the exception of O, who decided the toys were more interesting!

Many thanks to Shelby and Jessica for staying and helping out!  Also thanks to Carolyn and Joanne for letting Laura have the, "best birthday party, ever!" at the store!

this is the journal that they altered to make their master pieces!

sketch support - one page #9

I love Allison Davis' sketches!  When I saw this sketch, I thought of these pictures from 4 years ago.  I can't believe it's been four years!

Another one.

I saw this sketch at the Creative Scrappers blog and had an idea.

My take:

I'm a blingaphobe, so that swirly flower thing didn't make the cut!

The sketch:

Haven't played at Sketchy Thursdays in a bit.

I had the time tonight and I liked the sketch, so I gave it a go!

My take:

I'm still thinking of adding glossy accents to the chalked flowers....thoughts?

Camping - Darcy style

It's the May long weekend and Dan has taken the girls camping. The big girls, that is.
Aubie and I go out once a day so far we've eaten supper there the last two nights. Tomorrow, however, the girls want me to go in the morning so I can take them their swimsuits, life jackets and towels! Dan said the water was really cold, but they played in for a really long time!!
They are having a lot of fun!

The dance recital costumes are here!

We stopped by the studio tonight to pick up Laura and Océane's costumes for their recital in June. Of course we had to try them on. This is without the hair ties/elastics that match the outfits.

Miss Laura in her costume for her jazz number.
Miss O in her oh so cute costume for her ballet routine!

Laura's first Sparks camp!

Laura got to spend Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning with 14 of her spark friends at her first spark camp!  She really enjoyed it, and is looking forward to doing it again next year!  It rained the entire time, but they had a lot of activities to keep the girls entertained.  She was exhausted Sunday when Dan picked her up.

I had to work all weekend so I didn't even get to see the camp she was at.  Dan did send me this picture of her with her gear though.  Tell me she didn't look excited!

Any advice?

Océane has been pretty sick since Monday night. Dan stayed home with her yesterday and tried to get her an appointment with our family doctor. They were closed until 2pm and when he finally spoke to someone there he could only get 9:10 this morning.
We decided she couldn't wait that long and he took her to the hospital last night. She has an ear infection, strep throat and chest congestion. She also won't take medicine. Every time we try she throws up. We've been keeping her fever down with, well, you know. Her antibiotics con't go that route.
Any advice? I put the dose in some chocolate milk but it's not going down either!
The nurse at the hospital said she could get the Tylenol down and she, too, was rewarded for her efforts!

Look at how swollen my girl is. Poor thing!!

I tried the chewable Tylenol this morning and those came up as well.

my stuff from this weekend.

I had a great time.  Minus the walk on the beach.  Don't get me wrong, it was lovely.  However, it's dangerous down there!  I wiped out on some driftwood and have the nasty bruise to prove it!  There was a really neat teepee structure that someone has put some time into.

I got 11 single pages done, one double page layout and worked on my mom's Christmas present for this year a bit!  All in all a really wonderful weekend.

This was a page kit, I won at the Two Scrapbook Friends CHA crop.  I had to mix it up a bit, but I love this picture of Aubrielle on this paper!  Even in black and white, her blue eyes pop!

This is the layout that took the most time.  I stitched it all together and then just added the picture and tag and that was it.  I love this one so much!  It's based on a MSW sketch and also a layout that Shelby was working on at the time.

Some really old pictures that I have had for awhile and had this paper in mind when I bought it a while back.  Based on one side of an Allison Davis sketch.

I'm pretty sure this is based on a sketch too, since I was a sketchaholic this weekend, I just can't remember who!

Absolutely adore this My Mind's Eye line, I used it a lot this weekend.  Based on an Ann Jobes sketch for a forum challenge at Two Scrapbook Friends.

My silly sleeper girl.  Based on a sketchy Thursdays sketch.

Quick and cute.

More MME!!!  LOVE this line!

Feb. sketch club from TSF.  I broke it up, did one page valentines as the kit hinted to.

The other side of the kit, I scrapped Laura and Duane's first Christmas together.  If that isn't love, I don't know what is!

Thanks for looking, I know there is a lot there!!
