What a difference a year makes.

It truly is amazing the amount of growth that happens in a child's first two years.  At Christmas last year Aubrielle was just 6 weeks old.  Now she is 13.5 months old.  She's not quite walking, but she climbs.  Everything.

Oceane was still a baby herself last Christmas.  This was a big year for my girl.  She is completely diaper free, and has been for months now.  We are so proud of her, it was a long process for her, but she did it!
Our Christmas card from 2009.  Oceane was just 2!  Look at that baby face.  She's all little girl now in 2010!
Laura is now half way done her year in Jardin (kindergarten) and she is doing really well.  Every day she comes home and tries to teach me some french.  I'm learning.  Slowly.  By far, her favourite activity is Sparks.  Every morning she wakes up and asks if she "gets to go to Sparks tonight?"

Dan and I are doing well.  He's trying to balance being a great dad, work, curling and finding time to play Flames of War.  I've been back to work for about 6 weeks now and we're still trying to figure out how to spend time with the girls, cook, clean and get the laundry done.  I seem to be finding time to scrap though!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas morning!  The gift unwrapping is always over so quickly!

Christmas party

Last night we went and had dinner with Dan's work. The party was at Glen Abbey, which is a bit of a swanky place. I'm not one for dressing up, I had to borrow a dress and buy new makeup. I think the final product was one that didn't stand out! Shelby, I got a compliment on your dress. I'm wondering if I made a social blunder by not returning the compliment to the lady about her dress?

There was a quartet walking around singing to each table before dinner. Imagine my surprise and happiness when I took a closer look and saw that I knew one of the singers! During one of their breaks I went and said, "hi" and got a quick hug. Mr. Sean Mootrey still sounds great!

The food really wasn't very good. The starting salad was wilted, so I didn't even eat it. It was a turkey dinner with vegetables and it was just kind of blah. The dessert was cheesecake and if you know me, you know I was less than thrilled.

I'd say the highpoint of the evening was leaving! We decided to start/finish our Christmas shopping. I'm sure we are going to end up on "people of walmart" since we went dressed in our fancy duds.

Field trip!

As Laura calls it. This is my crew watching a movie trailer to decide what to go see. The girls love to wear their glasses like this. The chose Tangled, and I hope they are enjoying it!

Aubie, Aubie, Aubie.

She went to bed an hour early last night as she still hasn't been 100% yet. She decided that 4:15am was a fine time to be up today. She nursed, we rocked and finally at 5:30, I decided she really wasn't going back to sleep.
To just stay home and let her play is an invitation for the other two to wake up and we don't need that crankiness today! So I thought, "great, let's go and get started on the Christmas shopping". I set her in her crib so I could get dressed. I wasn't worried about showering as this was Walmart we were going to. Of course she was sound asleep in the 3 minutes it took for me to be dressed. I would take a picture of my little darling, but that would probably land me right back at the starting point!

What a week!!

This week started out super busy and ended up with 4/5 of us throwing up!  I'm so glad to see this week over!

Laura's sparks meeting was changed to Monday this week because they joined up with the brownie unit and sang some carols for the residents of the senior's centre.

Tuesday night was her Christmas concert at her school.  We were a little let down when we left.  All the other classes sang 2 or more songs, her class sang 1 minute and 17 seconds worth of video.  It was cute, but so short!
video

Wednesday morning is when the fun started.  Aubrielle woke us up crying at her normal time.  You know that smell?  That is what hit me when I walked into her room.  She'd been sick during the night but either didn't wake up, or didn't have a problem with being covered in it.  That was a first for us as parents.  I hope it never happens again.  Oceane started later in the day.  From there on out, we were just playing a waiting game for the rest of us to get it.

Thursday was my day off and I had intended to study for my exam, which I had to write on Saturday.  That did not happen, because when I arrived to drop O and Aubie off at the sitters, she was sick (although she made arrangements for her daughter to watch the girls) so I brought them back with me.

Friday morning, yippee!  It's my turn.  I was actually glad in a way, as I was terrified it would hit me Saturday and I would miss my exam.  Dan ran around like a madman in the morning to get the girls ready and out the door to the sitter's.  I helped a little, got their outfits ready and threw together some quick snacks for Laura (thankfully, it was pizza day so I didn't have to do too much).  Then blissful sleep for me.  Dan came home around 3pm and fell into bed beside me.  He didn't miss out on the fun, either.  I think I win worse mom of the day award for the evening.  I sat out with them on the couch, but I kept falling asleep.  Laura made them dinner, cheesewhiz sandwiches.  I didn't want Aubie to eat too much because she was sick again at the sitters, so she just had some cheerios and a cereal bar.

Saturday.  Aubie and O were awake by 6:30.  I had hoped for a little more sleep, but it wasn't to be.  I wrote the exam in 35 minutes.  Partly because I actually knew the stuff and partly because I was so tired, I just wanted to get out of there!  Dan went back to bed as soon as I got home.  I've canceled our plans for tonight.

Guess who we saw today?

Okay, so no guessing needed since there is a picture!  We had a busy day again.  First was a little gathering to celebrate our friend Kate's fourth birthday.  Then we had a bit of time to kill so we went to the mall and had some ice cream and browsed around for awhile.  We had some family pictures done today and I also had new ones taken of the girls.  Wow, they did great.  Laura and Océane look at least two years older.  Wait until you see the pose in O's pic.  She sat on the chair and became this little model, she changed her position every shot!   All three girls have spectacular pictures and the group one is sweet as well.  Laura helped me pick which poses to buy.  During that she told me that her watch said it was time to see Santa!!

Océane ran right up to Santa and sat on his lap and started talking away.  Laura just kept saying "zoobles" which led Santa to ask what they even were.  Aubrielle didn't scream, but there were tears, but we still got an okay picture!

Santa even commented on the dresses, he said, "I'll bet mom picked out your dresses, they are similar but just different enough."  You have to love Santa!!

Merry Christmas!

Last night we had our first Christmas family gathering. My brother and his family, my dad, and my mom and Bob all came for supper. I was overruled and the kids got to open their gifts.
It's almost 9am and Aubie is still sleeping, which is a first! Aunt Shelley and uncle Duane got them these cute matching jammies. The girls have been playing with these little pocket pet games since they got them.
We get to have a little bit of a quiet morning before our busy afternoon. We have a birthday party and pictures later today!
Now it's time to get the dude up to make some breakfast :).

Volunteering at Sparks

Last night I helped out at Laura's Sparks meeting. They were making
three different table toppers for the residents at the Senior's Centre
where her meetings are held. It was so much fun helping the girls make their crafts. There were paper bag snowmen, reindeer flower pots and some paper pop-up Christmas trees to make. I was helping with the trees and the girls made a huge mess with the glue, sparkles and stickers, but they sure had fun! Each girl was allowed to pick their
favourite craft to take home and Laura chose her paper bag snowman. I had to take a picture of her reindeer because he's so cute. She gave him facial hair....just like her papa!

Laura's family

I had to work all weekend. I brought home some cardboard inserts from some saline packages for the girls to colour on.

Laura gave me this picture of her family. There's me and the "boy who married me", Laura, O and a wee tiny Aubie. I am going to hang this up in my scrap room!

Thank you Regan!

I'm at a 12 hour crop at Two Scrapbook Friends and there is a layout by Regan hanging on the wall beside me.

Here is my take on her awesome layout!

Bad hair day.

This is what she looks like before I put her elastics in. Not that she keeps them in at all.

Having fun with hair!

There is a website that is helping me be a little (lot) more adventurous with the girl's hair. Google princess hairstyles and you should find it.

This is actually woven! I love it and it was so easy to do.

Day 1 done.

Dan was picked up around 3 in the morning yesterday.  I got a text from him to say he'd landed safely in Dallas and then an email to say he was in his room in Mexico.

I worked until 5pm and then raced over to get the girls from the sitter.  I cheated and went to Little Caesar's and got the hot and ready pizza for dinner.  We had to get Laura to Sparks for 6:30 so we had to eat quickly!!  Shelby met us there so she could see where to pick Laura up.  Thanks for that Shelby!!  She brought Laura home and then we watched True Blood.

She's almost caught up on season three and then she'll be in the same boat as me and wanting season four to be on NOW!

Laura woke up this morning and the first thing she asked  was when daddy was coming home.

I would have a few pictures from yesterday, but the girls got the camera and used up the battery.

I made it!

Yeah, that's pretty much it.  I think I will go back tomorrow.

Thanks so much for all the support, it has really helped.

My goal for tomorrow is no tears--on my part, the girls were fine.

Now keep your thoughts with Dan because he's going to Mexico again.

Tomorrow, it is.

Back to work tomorrow.  Not that I haven't been working this past year, it's just been a very different kind of work.  My maternity leave is officially over.  According to my husband it was my last maternity leave, but that is another post!

It's going to be extra challenging this week as Dan is being picked up by airways transit sometime before the crack of stupid on Tuesday morning.  He's being shipped off to Mexico again for who knows how long.  The girls and I are very fortunate to be surrounded with some really great people that step up and lend a hand when he's traveling. We really appreciate you!

I'm a little concerned about going back to work.  Everything changes so fast that it's like learning a new job from scratch!

I think Aubie was feeling something off tonight, it took her a very long time to fall asleep.  She just wanted to be with me.  I think Laura is upset about it too, she really liked me meeting her at the bus.  Océane, is just happy to be back at the sitter's house (so far).  She loves playing with the kids there.

Wish us luck this week, it has the potential to be a very long one.

Happy birthday, Aubrielle!

So after a 90 minute wait at our doctor's office this morning (we think she had a lot of needy patients today!) we found out that our little Aubie now weighs 20lbs 13oz and is 28.5inches tall!  She got her flu shot which made her whimper and the screaming started with the MMR.  That was absolutely the worst reaction to any vaccination for any of the girls.  I felt bad for her.  Dan and I also got our flu shots.

She is absolutely perfect, our doctor said so :)  I can't believe our baby is one year old already, it just doesn't seem possible.  She has two teeth, a wonderful smile and an amazing ability to kick her feet in time to the beat.  I think she, scratch that, I know she has music in her.  I've been singing twinkle, twinkle little star (but just using lala's) since she was born and when she feels like it, she can lala it back/with me.  She is just like O in her dancing.  She hears music and she has to move.  She also shares the ability to put a smile on my face at any time, just like her sisters.  We are truly blessed.

Our Aubrielle, just one short year ago.

Our happy, happy girl!  Happy birthday sweet one!

So glad I'm not needed.

The little girls had their first day at the babysitter's house this morning.  We decided to ease them in by doing today and tomorrow before they have to go full time next week.

Oceane was so happy to be back there.  She threw off her shoes and coat and ran to play with the other kids that were there.  I asked her if she was going to come and say goodbye, and she said "no, mom."  That was it.

I took Aubie to get her pictures done for her first birthday (which are so freaking cute!) and then I brought her to the sitters too.  They were outside playing and again I asked O if she would give me a hug goodbye, she looked right at me and said, "I'm good."

My fears about Aubie and her no/short naps was not needed, because she slept 90 minutes.  Of course she did!  Don't kids always do the exact opposite of what you think or tell someone they will do?  O even asked, yes, asked to go to sleep.  Didn't make for an easy bedtime tonight, though!

Laura and I walked over to get them when she got off the bus, then we came home and played outside.  The girls collected all the leaves that had accumulated up against the fence.  They had so much fun doing it!  Of course, I have pics...taken with my phone, but still some pics so you get the idea....

O saw this picture and said, "momma, I'm a robot!"
What better use for a recycle bin?
Here's our 364 day old.  She was laughing so hard at her sisters playing.  Poor thing can't wait to walk!

Finally the costume pictures!

With Aubrielle's birthday party, Laura's enrollment into Sparks and me getting ready to return to work, I almost forgot to post these pictures for Grandma!

Laura was spider girl - officially daughter of spider man.  Oceane was a butterfly princess and is still trying to wear the dress every day!  For Aubrielle we were more concerned about her being warm.  When we brought her in for bed, she was toasty warm and still without a clue as to what was going on.

Here is Laura displaying her best superhero pose.  Get a look at the shoes.  You have to love The Children's Place, those shoes sure completed her costume.

Butterfly princess she may have been, but she sure knows how to demonstrate her superpower moves as well!  Either that or she was busting a groove, which would also be like her.

Now for the cutest penguin in the whole K-W area, Aubrielle.  Poor thing looks terrorized, doesn't she?  Maybe, but like I said, she was warm!

Another quick group shot.  They are getting very good about posing together, this was their setup.

This is the last picture for this post.  All I have to say about it is, that I CAN'T WAIT to scrap it!!!!

Laura is a SPARK!

We went to her enrollment ceremony tonight.  She was so happy and did really well.  They had to walk through the arch to their leaders and say the promise.  They were in pairs and Laura's voice was the one we heard.  She is very proud of herself for remembering what to do tonight.  I just have to teach her the words to our national anthem in English!!
Walking through the arch, to her leaders...she wouldn't stop playing with her sash!

Getting her pin.

Saying her promise, she was loud and proud!
A little treat for a job well done.  Congratulations, Laura!!
The 11th Kitchener Sparks.

Dan ended up taking the little ones to the van because Océane wanted to be with Laura and Aubie didn't want to sit still either!  They got to see her get her pin and then they left.

Aubie gets the cake!

We had a very low key first birthday party for Aubie yesterday.  Thanks to our friends and family who came to celebrate with us!  As usual, she was more into the tissue from her gift bags than the actual gifts, but I am thankful for the clothes and toys!

She really enjoyed the chocolate cake.  She wasn't supposed to have chocolate cake, keep on reading for that story!  She would eat a handful and give the floor a handful.  So impressed my girl is sharing already!

My brother made the cake for the rest of us to eat and it was so good!  I told him that the 'theme' for the party was monkeys so Shelley made awesome chocolate monkey suckers for the cake for decorations.  The cake and chocolates were so good!  He made it a marble cake which is my personal favourite.  Now just Laura to make a cake from and I won't ask for another one...unless he wants to make me one :)

Now onto my complaint (which I forgot to call about today)!  I originally bought a Duncan Hines white cake mix (yes, from a box) to make her cake and some cupcakes from.  When I opened the box, the inner bag was not sealed.  No problem, because I`ve had this happen before so I bought two boxes just in case.  I opened the second box and same freaking thing!  It`s getting late in the day and the guests were arriving around 2pm.  Thankfully, my neighbour had a mix for me to us.  I wasn`t being picky over the flavour.

The last time this happened with the cake mixes their customer service sent me a coupon for one free box.  I had better be getting more than that this time.  It was my daughter`s birthday party!

Now I have to go and peel some clementines for the girl`s after dinner treat!

Trying out blogging on the fly!

I just wanted to say it's clementine time again! I think it's a little sad how happy this makes me. We've already gone through two boxes! So yummy!

Say it ain't so!

Tomorrow is Aubrielle's first birthday party.  How did a year go by so fast?  Technically, she's not actually one until Friday so I'm looking at tomorrow as a dress rehearsal.
I am not ready to leave her all day.  We have a wonderful babysitter, but she's not me! I'm worried about how she will do at the sitter's house.  Aubie doesn't like to sleep.  There have been many attempts to get her onto some sort of schedule, but life gets in the way.  I've been trying to keep her up until her afternoon nap, but this week she's been sleeping from 10-12 and then up until bed.  I'm sure the sitter will figure something out.

Look at all her dark hair!  Who would have thought that she'd be so blonde? (I know you can't tell under the hat, but take my word for it!)

I wish there was a rewind button.  I would love to hold all my babies in my arms (as babies) even for just one more day!  I will admit though, that Laura and Océane sure do give some of the best hugs in the world!!

Pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins.

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Two Scrapbook Friend's fall retreat in Grand Bend this past weekend.  Thanks so much to my wonderful in-laws (who happen to read my blog!) for coming down and hanging out with my family.  The girls absolutely loved having you here.

While I was gone I missed the trip to the pumpkin patch to pick out this year's crop!  Dan, Dan Sr and Laura all got in on the carving action.  Laura cleaned, designed and carved her own pumpkins this year.  Dan did something he's wanted to do for awhile and carved a turnip!
They did some patterns but also free hand this year.
Now onto retreat stuff.  I had so much fun.  I am still in shock that in 48 hours of cropping time, I only completed one layout.  However, I did get altered :)  I worked on a bunch of stuff that I have been unsure of or afraid to even attempt.  I made the tags for the swap that I am in with the gals from the Two Scrapbook Friends forum.  I'm hoping that the Christmas gifts that I made this weekend will be well received by those getting them.

My one and only layout.  It was part of a challenge or I'm thinking it wouldn't have happened either.
another challenge to use a stamped image.
this was a sketch challenge.
Create something with a halloween theme. Ok, done!
We had to create something from the goody bag.  It came with directions, this is not my idea!
Probably my favourite thing.  I won this advent calendar at the very first retreat I went to and have finally finished it!  Can't wait to fill it up for December!!!  Did I ever get a lot of people asking where I got it.  It was a hot item.  Sorry folks!!!
Please keep in mind that I am *not* a card maker!!!!  I'm also thinking I am going to bling up the advent calendar....as you know, there is never enough bling :)

Bed time at the Lagrandeur house.

Is both my favourite and least favourite part of the day.  I love the fact that after they are in bed and it gets quiet(er).  I love the snuggling of story time and Aubrielle's last nursing for the day (hopefully!).  I'm not a fan of trying to round up three girls for the tub and getting them changed into their jammies, and brushing teeth and hair.

One night this week after the girls had been sleeping for a bit, I was sitting in the living room and Dan went to check on them.  He said I had to go right away, which always makes me think something is wrong.  What I saw made me run for the camera!

At first it didn't seem like there was anything that I would be concerned about.  When Dan pulled back her comforter I started to laugh.  Our girls have never been the kids that sleep in odd places in odd ways.  So I finally have a funny sleeping picture of O!
Comfy cozy!
I'm not even sure how one can sleep like this!  I'm guessing she almost fell out of bed.
Or maybe she was practicing her ballet in her sleep?  Trying to get on her tippy toes?

I don't think I will get a funny sleeping picture of Laura.  She sleeps in her bed and her bed only!  Scratch that, she sleeps in O's bed and O's bed only!

October ramblings!

Yesterday morning Laura woke up early and decided to do something nice for Oceane.  She brought out the little pony set that O got for her birthday and told Dan she was going to set it up so it would be ready for O when she woke up.

Oceane woke up and Laura ran to their room.....here is what followed.
Laura: "Oceane come to the livering room, I have a surprise for you."
Me: "Where?"
Laura: "The livering room."
Me: "Where?"
Laura: "The LIVERING room."
Me: "Where?"
Laura: "Oceane, follow me."

I just love their mispronunciations of words, that I keep asking them to say it.  They now are starting to change what they are saying and depriving me of my fix!

Laura's little friend from school is named Parker and O calls him Parkener.

Oceane also says "let me alone" when she is being bugged by someone.  "Let me alone, mom!" when I'm trying to do her hair.

So far all we hear from Aubie is "mom, mom, mom" and now "dad!" and of course the screeching when there isn't food in front of her!

Oceane had her 3 year check up today.  She is 32.5lbs and 37.5inches tall!  I have to dig out last years visit, but I don't think she's gained much weight, just shot up a ton!  She also got her flu shot and wow, was I impressed.  She wouldn't look away, but she didn't know what was coming either.  All she did was say "ouch" and then "did she fix me?"  That was it though, no tears!

Laura has sparks tonight and they are meeting at a pumpkin patch.  She is beyond thrilled!  I will try to take some pictures, but parents are not encouraged to stay.  As if!

27 days until I return to work :(

The bowling party.

We took a few of O's friends bowling to celebrate her birthday.  Even with a Mia/O collision, everyone had a great time!  There are going to be some future great bowlers in this group!
Oceane bowled a few times but then decided she'd rather dance.  We were the only people there so they gave us the option of doing "Rock and Bowl."  It was so much fun, the kids loved the fact that their clothing was glowing.

Instead of going to the Superstore for the birthday cake, we decided go a different route this time.  Amanda Wolff, who is an 18 year old highschool student has discovered her passion.  When I saw these tie-dyed cupcakes on her blog, I knew I wanted them for O's party.  I had previously enjoyed some of Amanda's other creations, so I knew they would be delish!  Thanks so much for the cupcakes, they were so good!
You can find Amanda at www.asprinkleontop.blogspot.com .
After her first ball.  Look at her face!
Bowling quickly lost out to dancing.  Holden was busting a move too!
Miss Mia, who is the prime example how to bowl in style!
Wyatt put me to shame.  He beat my average.  Nuff said.
Emma's turn!  I just noticed Laura in the back ground...I hope she was cheering her on!
Kate, such a dainty bowler.
This girl is so competitive.  She was getting a little upset with herself for leaving pins standing.
Don't worry Aubrielle, your birthday is next!
Cupcakes made by Amanda Wolff.  So Yummy!
